About Colombia

Colombia is located in the northwestern zone of South America, it has a extension of 1,141,748 km2 and it is the only country in South America that has 2 coasts Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The official language of Colombia is Spanish and its capital is Bogotá. Colombia is one of the richest countries in the world in biological and cultural diversity. It has all climates but there are no seasons.

Banks are open from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm, Monday through Friday, some offices open on Saturdays.  We recommend you to change money at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá or at Rafael Nuñez Airport in Cartagena. Generally in the commerce, restaurants, hotels accept credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club).

¿What to do in Cartagena?

Airport and Transportation

Rafael Núñez International Airport receives international and domestic flights. The Airport is located at: Calle 71 N° 3-89, Barrio Crespo, Phone: + 57 (5) 666-6610.

Once you arrive to Cartagena, you can take a secured taxi to take you to the place you want. We also recommend ordering your taxi on authorized places such as: hotels, restaurants or use Uber. Taxis minimum fare is about $4000 COP.

¿Do I need Visa to go to Colombia?

Some countries are required to issue a Visa for entering to Colombia, you can check your Nationality if a Visa is required at:

¿Do I need Vaccination ?

Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory for various regions of Colombia. Never forget your vaccination certification document. You better consult a specialized health center at least 2 months before your flight.

It is recommendable to be vaccinated against:

  • Yellow fever
  • hepatitis A & B
  • Typhoid
  • Rabies
  • DKTP (diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio)
